This website was setup on the 22nd February 2009, this will be a ground guide to the Hope Valley League and the 4 main High Peak clubs, Buxton F.C, Glossop North End AFC, New Mills AFC and Chapel Town F.C. - These four are featured pages will more information and pages of their own.
It is now my aim to attempt to complete the Hope Valley League, to those unaware the Hope Valley League is 40 team Football League comprising of the Premier Division (13 teams), 'A' Division (13 teams) and 'B' Division (14 sides). The size of the Hope Valley League changes season to season as clubs either jump up to the Manchester League, Midland Regional Alliance and Cheshire Association League or clubs resign / fold.
Teams are mainly from the High Peak and Hope Valley area but some come from further away, example of this: Dronfield Town A (of the Dronfield area of Derbyshire), Totley Sports (of Sheffield) Tintwistle Villa (from Tintwistle, 6 miles West of Glossop)
There are 40 teams but a total of 28 grounds, 12 clubs either have reserve teams or share their pitches with other sides.
This will be a pictoral guide as well as written and I hope it will be of good use to local people, groundhoppers and the curious wanting to know what its all about.
I will attend a game at every venue to count it as a 'visit' as it would be easy (in a car at least) to visit all 28 in one day.
I have so far visited 27, I am on course to visit all by Christmas 2009.
I will look into doing most of this by public transport, bus, train, the occasional cycle and the odd walk!
I attend sixth form over in Stockport although ending at 11:30 on Wednesdays allows me plenty of free. I lived in Sheffield until I was nearly 14 and for 3 seasons was running the website for the Second Oldest Football Club in the World, Hallam, the website still runs but not updated regularly, www.hallamfc.co.uk for the interested.
I would currently like to thank the ground-hoppers on the English Football site forum for their positive feedback.
Enjoy the website and if you like it, send the link to someone else!
